Weirdo Records
viscerally We love independent record stores.
Li 'we grew up, they' have met with those who - after years - are still our friends from the heart, they 'go to seek relief from a world that - though we try - can not erase from his face and Above all, they 'buy our records.
E 'was therefore a joy Thursday' September 23 last year to get in - on the occasion of a visit in these parts - from Weirdo Records , located in 844 Massachusetts Avenue, Cambridge (Boston), USA. Welcomed by the gracious owner
Angela Sawyer (who tells us that you have opened the store for little more 'than a year, having previously played in the activity' for the sale of its disk ... the bedroom!) We blessed in his sixties fantastic selection of reprints, darkness' contemporary, precious nuggets from catalogs Sublime Frequencies, Issue Group, Light In The Attic, Mississippi Records etc.etc.
finished, we go out with less than $ 174.50 in our account, but dismissed with a smile and a handshake worth millions. On the receipt
and 'printed the phrase " Weirdo Loves You", let us say loudly " We love you, Weirdo"!

Pinky Toe Surgery Pic
Chris Hillman
Frankly we do not know where to start. When hitting a new record of one of the artists we love most, our heart begins to send messages difficult to put into words and to be reported in the press. But we try.
In May 2008, the drafter of these humble lines unimportant put pen to paper (electronic) and Chris Hillman wrote to thank him for the wonderful gift that he wanted to give him and all others who have ears to listen; heavenly music that makes the world a better place to stay.
few days later, unexpectedly, an e-mail where among other things Hillman told us: "Your words validate my life."
We were moved by such kindness.
Today, September 2010, after five years since his last studio album ("The Other Side") greet with great joy the release of "At Edward's Barn."
This is a retrospective of the entire disk, incredible career of the Californian musician (a founding member of the Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers, Manassas, Souther-Hillman-Furay Band, McGuinn-Hillman-Clark) and attributable to the Hillman and the his loyal friend Herb Pedersen.
Instead of pocketing the easy way of "greatest hits" assembled at the table, to celebrate the immeasurable value of the music on the disc, Chris and Herb decided to play live - in front of an audience of about 200 people gathered for the 'opportunity in a hut (!) with perfect in Nipomo, California - a series of gems mined from the repertoire of forty ultra-Hillman. Listening
turns out to be a transcendent experience: "Turn, Turn, Turn," "Eight Miles High," "Wheels", "Desert Rose", "Sin City" and so forth disvelano nuances that still did not imagine not know.
E. .. That voice, that voice, that voice! E 'Chris Hillman singing but we know well, without fear of contradiction, that it comes from. From the very top.
again and we moved here not able to articulate what 'we feel more space' of our private soul. From
filed under: classical / sacred music.

Songs To Run Out To Before Basketball Game
Peter Walker
" I was struck by the relaxed feeling of the record and felt nothing Rushed " said the late Jack and Rose about the unforgettable masterpiece " Rainy Day Raga "by Peter Walker .
It was in fact thanks to this disc (originally published in 1966) had discovered that Jack's work Walker, guitar teacher admired by many (Robbie Basho, MV & EE, Thurston Mooore etc.etc.)
Gia 'reprinted last year in the U.S. on vinyl (and immediately scored by "The Music Is Inside" between the reprinted 2009), and it 'just out of a perfect English edition published by Ace Records CD (on Vanguard label) that will allow' a greater spread of this cornerstone of the music.
deliberately do not say anything about the operation itself 'that invite you to enjoy a calm and concentration.
We take leave but 'making our own beautiful words of its author: "So much of music is an expression of feeling. You tell a story with the music But, Unless it's an empty character study, it's more about your feelings. "
